2021 Legislative Coffees

During the 2021 Legislative Session, the Creston Chamber of Commerce will once again provide an opportunity to question our legislators during virtual “Legislative Coffees” via Zoom. This year the sessions will be combined with Adams and Cass Counties.

The Coffees have been scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 13, March 13 and April 10. The following Zoom access information is for the Feb. 13 coffee: 9 a.m., meeting ID: 587 431 0503, passcode: ChamberCow. For dial-in 1-312-626-6799, Meeting ID: 587 431 0503, passcode: 669454.

The chamber requests that questions be submitted in writing, either by email at chamber@crestoniowachamber.com or to the Creston Chamber Facebook Page by noon, Feb. 11.

Currently Representative Tom Moore and Senator Tom Shipley are planning to attend. Mark your calendars now and plan on Zooming one or all of the sessions. All coffees are open to the public at no charge.

Connections Area Agency on Aging joins Iowa’s Benefits Enrollment Center

Connections Area Agency on Aging have announced that they have become a part of Iowa’s Benefits Enrollment Center. They will be better equipped to work with clients, screening their eligibility and assisting with applications for public and private assistance programs.

Staff will assess individuals for assistance with core benefits, including drug prescriptions, applying for Medicare savings programs, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs/SNAP (formerly Food Stamps), Medicaid’s numerous programs, Low-Income Heating and Energy Assistance Programs (LIHEAP), SSI, Social Security Disability Insurance, veteran’s benefits, tax benefits, dental assistance and many others. Valentine Cookie Bouquets on sale

The Friends of the Library are now selling Valentine Cookie Bouquets. Order your cookie bouquets at Gibson Memorial Library, 200 W. Howard St., Creston. The deadline for orders will be 6 p.m. Feb. 5.

Delivery of bouquets will be Feb. 12 between 9 a.m. and noon. All deliveries must be within the city limits of Creston. The choices are as follows:

6 cookies in a vase, $10

6 gluten-free cookies, $12

12 cookies in a box, $15

Delivery of bouquets will be Friday, Feb. 12 from 9 a.m. To noon (within the city limits of Creston). Order at Gibson Memorial Library, 200 W. Howard St.

First National Bank website changing (Jan. 26)

First National Bank will be moving from www.fnbcreston.com to www.fnbc.bank Jan. 26. This “.bank” website domain is gaited – just like a .gov or .edu – which provides an added layer of security for customers. Huewe said there will be no interruption to customers. For those who may type in the former .com address, they will be automatically redirected. During this transition, no changes at all will be made to mobile, retail or business online banking.
