Weekly Open House at Deer Ridge (Sunday and Wednesday)

Deer Ridge at Lexington is Southwest Iowa’s newest premier event space located in the rolling hills of Taylor County. The public and those looking to host a wedding or corporate event with hotel suites are welcome to visit the state-of-the-art event venue and adjacent lodge for a free tour and refreshments 2 to 6 p.m. each Sunday and Wednesday in January. This is a “come and go” event located at 2242 Lake Road, Bedford, IA.

‘What’s On Your Nightstand?’ (Thursday)

Every Thursday at 5 p.m., join online via Zoom. This is a casual group to share a love of literature and perhaps find a new book to read. American Red Cross (Feb. 1)

The American Red Cross is beginning to schedule appointments for blood donations in the new year. There will be a drive from noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 N. Sumner Ave. To schedule and appointment, visit redcrossblood.org.

Gibson Memorial Library’s Zoom ‘Open Coffee’ (Feb. 3)

An open coffee will be held 10 a.m. Feb. 3 on Zoom. Join in for a casual coffee group online to chat with other people, get to know one another and learn about what’s going on in the community. Most importantly, to connect with others during this time of social and physical distancing. Legislative Coffees (Feb. 13)

Another Zoom book club will be held 5 p.m. Feb. 22. The book being discussed is “Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City” by Matthew Desmond.
