Wolverine golf schedule ramps up in late season

Both squads second in Lenox

LENOX — The Wolverines finished second as a team in a golf triangular Monday, April 20, at Lenox, competing against the Martensdale-St. Marys Blue Devils and the host Lenox Tigers.

On the girls side, Nodaway Valley senior Mallory Russell placed fourth with a 48. Sophomore Taryn Gutierrez followed with a 51. Rounding out the Wolverines’ scorecard were senior Brailyann Coffman (53), freshman Aubree Williams (56) and sophomore Aleyah Pilgreen (56).Martensdale-St. Marys won the meet with a 189, followed by Nodaway Valley at 208 and Lenox at 229. The Blue Devils recorded the top three individual scores.

In boys competition, Lenox won with a 153, while the Wolverines finished second at 167. Martensdale-St. Marys placed third with a 181.

Nodaway Valley junior Ty Rardin shot a 2-over-par 38 to finish runner-up behind Lenox’s Adrian Schlapia, who carded a 1-under round. Other scores for the Wolverines included senior Keyin Steeve (42), junior Sam Miller (43), sophomore Jack Berg (44), senior Remington Woosley (46) and Ty Strode (47).

Nodaway Valley was scheduled to compete in another triangular Tuesday in Indianola against Martensdale-St. Marys and Central Decatur. The Wolverines’ rescheduled home meet was set for Thursday against CAM and Creston, with the boys slated to compete in the Winterset Invitational on Friday.
