Dianne Allsup believes that when someone unlocks the meaning and truth behind their identity, it can open up a myriad of possibilities for a new, healthier life. That belief is what led her to write a book.
The registered nurse, health coach and life coach never expected to become an author. She had no previous writing experience but decided to put to paper the lessons she has learned. This work is especially for women who feel like they’re the one holding everything together — the ones everyone relies on — but who are starting to feel the weight of that in their own lives.
The result is a short e-book, “It’s Not All on You: A Woman’s Guide to Living Without Carrying It All Alone.” While the book is written from a woman’s perspective and geared toward women, Allsup said its concepts are not exclusive to them.
“This is just the beginning. It’s the sum total of all that I have learned and experienced in my lifetime. Trying to put that into words to share with people, it’s a feat. It’s an incredible feeling,” Allsup said.
Allsup said her journey began with a fundamental question: Where does health come from?
“In my experience, we were designed to live in joy, peace and harmony, but through life in general, and all the noise and confusion that’s in the world, we’ve been drawn away from that and we’ve forgotten what that even looks like,” Allsup said. “Helping people sort through all that and get back to the truth of who they are — that’s what I’m about.”
She said the concept is no different than seeking medical or nutritional guidance.
“Identity drives behavior,” she said. “So when you really don’t understand who you are, then everything you do is going to be on that sandy foundation.”
Along with the book, Allsup plans to offer a master class for readers who want to explore its themes more deeply. She said she places a high value on sharing what she has learned with others.
“People are searching and are just so overwhelmed, and that’s what the focus of this book is,” Allsup said. “It’s the beginning steps for women who are looking for clarity and joy and who are feeling totally overwhelmed and burdened. This book is the first step for them. Let’s first do this and identify this, right? Because if you don’t — if you can’t identify these things and get some clarity — you’re never going to find your way out of it. That’s where this book starts.”
