WCC to host ‘Cinderella’
The Warren Cultural Center presents Rossini’s “Cinderella,” performed in English by OPERA Iowa, Des Moines Metro Opera’s Educational Touring Troupe, 7 p.m. Saturday, April 11. This production is one of WCC’s “Locals and Legends” series shows.
OPERA Iowa is an education division program of Des Moines Metro Opera, which is located in Indianola, just south of Des Moines. Over the past 39 years, the OPERA Iowa Educational Touring Troupe has performed in 10 states throughout the region and even in Japan and China, spreading the joy of opera to more than 1 million students and adults. Staying in Touch as Landlines Change - Senior Technology Class - 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 16
Telecom companies are in the process of updating copper lines across the country. This lecture will explain why copper lines are being phased out, the benefits of modern technology and what next steps you can expect. Additionally, we will review some alternatives to traditional landlines and share important resources to help you understand where to find additional information and what options may be available to you. Iowa’s Prohibition and Bootlegging Legacy - 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7
Join Iowa historical fiction writer Ann Hanigan Kotz as she takes you through the early 20th century in her program, Iowa’s Prohibition and Bootlegging Legacy at the Greenfield Public Library. Patrons come to understand why Iowa became a whiskey-making state during prohibition, including the how and where of the illegal enterprise. Kotz ends by discussing the current exploits of today’s underground whiskey business.
Ticket sales open for alumni banquet
Past, present and future alumni from the Bridgewater, Fontanelle and Greenfield communities are invited to enjoy a night of dinner, entertainment and catching up at the 2026 Nodaway Valley Alumni Banquet, scheduled for the evening of Saturday, May 2, at Sixteen Oaks in Fontanelle.
The meal will be catered by Lidderdale and music will be provided by Blast From the Past Jukebox.
Registration opens at 4 p.m. with a 5 p.m. social hour, 6:30 p.m. dinner, 7:30 p.m. annual meeting and program and 8 p.m. music and cocktails.
