Two NV track events finish top-10 at ISU indoor meet

AMES — The Nodaway Valley track and field teams took a small group of athletes to the Iowa Association of Track Coaches Indoor Championships on the campus of Iowa State University Friday, March 14. A couple of finishes for the Wolverines cracked the top 12.

Sophomore distance runner Gabe Winkelmann had the highest finish in terms of placing, taking 10th in the 3200m run in a time of 10:23.56. Senior jumper Emma Boswell was also 10th in the long jump, leaping 15-06.

Boswell was also 12th in high jump, clearing 4-05. The boys distance medley, with Cassius Burnside, Erik Jensen, Titan Foster and Paul Kading, was 12th in 3:58.60.

Luke Kading ran a 5:04.38 in the 1600m, placing 18th, and Burnside ran a 7.37 in the 60m dash for 21st place. Hurdler Allie Cornelison was 35th in the 60m hurdles in a time of 11.21.

Nodaway Valley competes again this Saturday in an indoor meet at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. Their first outdoor meet is March 31 at Bedford. See a team preview in next week’s edition.
