The Adair County 2026 primary election will be Tuesday, June 2, with polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The last day to file nomination papers for county supervisor (District 2NE and 4SE), county treasurer, recorder and county attorney is 5 p.m. Friday, March 20. Interested parties may pick up paperwork with the Adair County Auditor’s Office inside the courthouse or print them off the Iowa Secretary of State’s website. This paperwork must be filed at the county auditor’s office.
Any person wanting to formally object to a candidate’s filed paperwork has until 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, to do so.
Voters may file an absentee ballot request form with the county auditor’s office beginning Tuesday, March 24.
The deadline to request a satellite voting place is 5 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the county auditor’s office.
The first date that requested absentee ballots can be mailed is Wednesday, May 13. This date is also the first day in-person absentee voting can happen at the county auditor’s office inside the courthouse.
The deadlines for requesting a mailed absentee ballot and voter pare-registration are both 5 p.m. Monday, May 18. The auditor’s office will remain open until 5 p.m. that day. Any mailed voter registration forms postmarked on or before this day will be considered on time.
The county offices will be closed Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day.
The deadline to submit a formal challenge to qualifications of an absentee voter is 5 p.m. Friday, May 29. The office will be open until 5 p.m. that day.
The auditor’s office will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 30, for absentee voting and other office business, including passports.
The last day to vote in-person absentee at the auditor’s office is Monday, June 1.
