Ag Day at Fareway

Local agriculture groups invite the public to help them celebrate National Ag Day Tuesday, March 24, at Greenfield Fareway Meat and Grocery. From 3-5 p.m., the Adair County Farm Bureau, Cattlemen, Pork Producers and Corn Growers will be at the store to hand out agricultural information and great ag swag.

The overall theme for this year’s National Ag Week is “Roots of Freedom, Growing America for 250 years.”

Fine Arts Night features NV students

Nodaway Valley High School’s annual Fine Arts Night is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, at the Warren Cultural Center in Greenfield. All aspects of NVHS fine arts will be highlighted.

An art show featuring Aaron Riley’s 9-12th grade students from Art 1, Ceramics, Drawing, Painting and Advanced Art classes will be located in the lower lobby all during the month of March. Most of the works were chosen by the students themselves. Samples of creative writing from students of Karen Guthrie will also be on display.

The program upstairs in the auditorium will highlight musical and drama performances. Students of Abbey Lochmoeller (instrumental) and Nicole Miller (vocal) will perform as solos and in small groups. Speech and drama students also will entertain. Lauren Ernst is their head coach, Sam Grubisich is the assistant coach and Brenda Plymesser is volunteer coach.

Evan Landauer’s family and consumer sciences students will provide food to sample. An opportunity for a free will donation will be provided.

WCC to host ‘Cinderella’

The Warren Cultural Center presents Rossini’s “Cinderella,” performed in English by OPERA Iowa, Des Moines Metro Opera’s Educational Touring Troupe, 7 p.m. Saturday, April 11. This production is one of WCC’s “Locals and Legends” series shows.

OPERA Iowa is an education division program of Des Moines Metro Opera, which is located in Indianola, just south of Des Moines. Over the past 39 years, the OPERA Iowa Educational Touring Troupe has performed in 10 states throughout the region and even in Japan and China, spreading the joy of opera to more than 1 million students and adults. Tickets are $25 for adults with free admission for students (high school and younger). Tickets are available at warrenculturalcenter.com or at the door.
