Motorists who travel two busy roads in Adair County will have to be aware of bridge projects that are upcoming.
Beginning Monday, March 16, Adair County Secondary Roads reports a box culvert will be installed to replace a bridge 1 mile south of Stuart on Stuart Road. The road will be closed for 3-5 months.
During the closure, motorists traveling north toward Stuart will be directed 1 mile east on 130th Street to Victor Avenue and north to 110th Street, which they can use to go back west to Stuart Road.
Beginning April 6, the Iowa DOT reports it will close Highway 92 1.6 miles east of the Bridgewater turn off to replace a bridge over the west fork of the Nodaway River. The closure will last at least through late October.
When the bridge is closed, westbound motorists will be directed south of Fontanelle via Fontanelle Road, west on 310th Street and back north to Highway 92 via Highway 148.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area as well as be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
