My 2 cents on the situation in Iran

Greenfield native and veteran speaks out

Most, if not all of us, are hopeful that this is a short-term cost, long-term gain situation. People may not remember or think about why we have hundreds of thousands of Iranian refugees here in the United States, and the various attacks on western countries and assets carried out by Iranians (and their proxies) over the last 47 years.

Whether we like it or not, America’s resources and capabilities position us to eliminate current and future terrorist threats when it makes the most sense. The regular Jane and Joe US citizen doesn’t have the intelligence and counterintelligence information (that our military leaders have) to understand the “why” and “when” concerning taking out evil leadership. My hope and prayer is that together we question, but also together we understand that collectively, we have a duty and a responsibility to remove current and future terrorism threats. We do what is necessary to increase and promote freedom and democracy for all across the globe.

As far as any president needing congressional approval for utilizing our military assets, the 1973 War Powers Resolution requires congressional notification within 48 hours of the start of the conflict and limits the action to 60-90 days without congressional authorization.

Godspeed to our military, Israel’s, our allies and the Iranian people.

Aloha and God bless.
