Greater Regional Health has doubled down on its commitment to local health care at Greenfield Medical Clinic with the recent addition of Hailey Endres, a nurse practitioner from Greenfield.
She joins Dr. Demi O’Brien, a Greenfield native, as a second provider at the clinic.
An open house was held last Thursday to introduce the community to Endres.
“It’s nice to be able to be here and work in a different capacity than a nurse — being in the role where I’m seeing people, treating people and building relationships,” Endres said. “As a nurse, you build a different kind of relationship, so it’s nice to now be able to build all of those relationships in different ways.”
Endres began her medical career as a nurse at the hospital in Greenfield before spending time working in various departments at hospitals in Des Moines.
“I learned a ton in Des Moines,” she said. “It was really good experience, and I feel like I blossomed as a nurse there.”
While working at Greater Regional Health as a nurse in women’s health after that, Endres completed her bachelor’s degree. She later earned her master’s degree and completed her clinical hours through GRH as well as Adair County Health System.
Endres began working as a nurse practitioner last May and transitioned to the Greenfield clinic at the end of November. She said her decision to further her education stemmed from a deep passion for health care.
Growing up, Endres said she wanted to be either a marine biologist — which would have required moving to the coast — or work in health care.
“When I was in nursing school and learning about different fields and positions, I wasn’t exactly sure what my endgame was,” Endres said. “There was part of me that wanted to move up and move on, but I wanted to do the job first. I still love bedside nursing, but it felt like something was missing. I wanted to do more. What better way than to be a provider and care for patients at a different level?”
GRH Director of Health Services Luke Neitzel said the Greenfield Medical Clinic has been successful since opening in February 2024, both in providing quality health care options and in being an active community partner. Other GRH rural clinics are located in Lenox, Corning and Mount Ayr.
“Giving patients choice and access to high-quality health care is a goal, and I think our team works hard every day to achieve that,” Neitzel said. “That becomes clear through patient feedback and appreciation for our presence here, as well as our integration with Greater Regional in Creston and the multiple specialties we offer.”
Endres is married to Adam. She has four children.
