New provider helps ACHS bolster women’s health offerings

Dr. Amy Bingaman starts at local hospital

Adair County Health System announced the addition of Dr. Amy Bingaman, MD, FACOG, an experienced and highly respected women’s health provider, to its growing medical team. With exceptional clinical expertise, a patient-centered philosophy and a deep commitment to advancing women’s health, Dr. Bingaman brings a valuable expansion of high-quality gynecology services close to home.

Dr. Bingaman joins the organization with extensive experience in women’s health across diverse clinical settings. Originally from the Chicago area, she has lived in six states but calls Iowa home. She earned her undergraduate degree from Drake University and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa. Following medical school, she served 8 1/2 years in the U.S. Navy, completing her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology before continuing an additional 4 1/2 years at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.

For the past 15 years, Dr. Bingaman has provided full-spectrum OB-GYN care across Iowa, caring for women at every stage of life. Her clinical focus areas include adolescent gynecology, perimenopausal and menopausal care, LGBTQ+ health and supporting patients with personalized options to enhance their quality of life. At ACHS, she will provide outpatient women’s health services and perform gynecologic surgeries.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Bingaman is devoted to family, community and rural living. She and her husband, a farmer, are the parents of four children. Their farm in Columbia, Iowa, is home to ducks, chickens and goats, which she particularly enjoys caring for. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, traveling and running.

“Dr. Bingaman brings exceptional clinical experience and a passion for quality care that aligns perfectly with our mission at ACHS,” ACHS CEO Catherine Hillestad said. “Her addition expands access to vital women’s health services in our region, and we are honored to welcome a provider of her caliber to our organization.”

Dr. Bingaman shared her excitement about joining ACHS: “I chose to practice at ACHS so I can bring a service to the community that is necessary and needed. I’m truly excited to become a part of this community.”

With her arrival, ACHS continues its commitment to expanding access to compassionate, specialized women’s health care for the region.
