Last minute election reminders

City/School election is Nov. 4

Election News

Adair County voters have been hitting the polls early by voting in-person absentee at the auditor’s office.

Elections Deputy Auditor Nathan Reed says absentee voter turnout thus far has already more than doubled from the first city/school election he oversaw back in 2023.

“This is likely due to many contested races throughout the county as well as a Public Measure AB, on the City of Greenfield’s ballot,” Reed said.

The auditor’s office has one more date that it will be open until 5 p.m. That date is Friday, Oct. 31. This is the deadline for people to challenge qualifications of an absentee ballot voter. This is also the last day that the auditor’s office can review absentee affidavits.

Any ballots received on Nov. 3 or 4 must be reviewed by the Absentee and Special Voter Precinct Board.

“This extra 30-minute block is a great time to come into our office and vote if you are unable to make it to the polls on election day,” Reed said.

For those voting at the polls on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, Reed said there are a few things that are important to remember:

• Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Election Day. If there is a line at closing time, those who are already in line will be allowed to vote.

• Voters must bring a current form of identification, preferably with a current address on it.

• Those who are not registered to vote may register to vote and vote on the same day. Voters who do not have a current I.D. or proof of residency may be attested for by another registered voter in their precinct. Voters also have the option to vote a provisional ballot. If voting a provisional ballot, voters must cure their ballot by providing proof of their identity and residency to the auditor’s office by noon on Monday, Nov. 10 for their ballot to count.

• No “electioneering” is allowed within 300 feet of the polling place, meaning voters are not allowed to approach other voters with the purpose of intimidating them or swaying their vote one way or another

Here is another look at what will be on your ballots (jurisdictionally dependent) for the 2025 City/School election:
