MARTENSDALE — Southeast Warren swept Mount Ayr in the finals of the Pride of Iowa Conference Tournament Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Martensdale-St. Marys High School.
The Warhawks captured the win with set scores of 25-23, 25-15 and 25-21.
SEW’s Lexi Clendenen had 18 kills in the match for an offense set up by 24 assists from Jessica Lillig.
Raiderette senior Aubree Shields led her team with 22 kills.
Nodaway Valley/OM lost to the Warhawks in the opening round last Monday at Liberty Center on set scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-10. Clendenen finished that match with a team-high 10 kills as Lillig had 15 assists. Lola Shriver totaled seven aces.
Wolverine senior Izzy Eisbach finished with five kills and Addi Herr had four. Mattie Thompson ran the offense with 10 assists.
East Union, Martensdale-St. Marys, Mount Ayr and Southwest Valley were first-round POI tournament winners.
In one semifinal Tuesday, Mount Ayr beat MStM, while Southwest Valley fell to Southeast Warren in the other.
NV/OM (10-24) was scheduled to play Monday, Oct. 20 at West Central Valley (8-17) to open the Class 2A, Region 4 playoffs. The winner was to advance to play at Woodward-Granger (23-10) Wednesday, Oct. 22.
