Volunteers gathered Saturday, Oct. 4, to harvest the 21st annual Fields of Faith mission growing project.

Seventy acres of soybeans were planted this spring west of Fontanelle on the Dennis Lundy farm. Everything is donated, including land, planting, seed, chemicals and harvesting.

Nine farmers brought combines, trucks, tractors and grain carts to harvest and deliver the soybeans to the local cooperative. This year, 4,600 bushels of soybeans were harvested and donated.

The grain is sold locally and the cash forwarded to Growing Hope Globally. The revenue is used to improve farming practices, education and marketing skills for struggling farmers around the world.

Under the leadership of Dennis Lundy and Rolan Jensen, the local Fields of Faith project began in 2005. Soybeans sold this year generated $43,000, bringing 21 years of donations to Growing Hope Globally to a grand total of $763,000.
