Greenfield resident thanks ACHS

ER care made a difference in difficult circumstance

An Adair County Health System team member receives a thank you note on behalf of the rest of the hospital's staff from Greenfield resident Doug Armstrong.

When Doug Armstrong was transported by Adair County Ambulance to the emergency room at Adair County Health System, he was facing a serious heart issue. He said that because of the professionalism, compassion and clarity of the hospital staff, a potentially-traumatic experience turned into one filled with gratitude.

Armstrong, a Greenfield native who was actually born at Adair County Health System, shared his appreciation in a heartfelt thank-you card to the ACHS team.

“I was fairly relaxed because everybody here was relaxed,” Armstrong said. “They were competent, very professional, did their job and kept calm.”

Armstrong was treated by ER provider Sara Brown, who made a lasting impression through her communication and attentiveness.

“She was very clear with me,” he noted. “She told me exactly what was going on and how they were going to treat it.”

His praise didn’t stop with one provider. He made a point to recognize the entire care team, including the front desk staff, EMTs, nurses and medical staff for their skill and calm demeanor.

“They knew what they were doing and were very secure in their professionalism,” he added.

When asked if he would recommend Adair County Health System to a friend, his answer was simple: “Yes, definitely. They were really good and did their job.”

“Doug’s story is a powerful reminder of how local healthcare, delivered by familiar faces in a familiar place, can make all the difference,” hospital officials said.
