Chloe Rardin of Greenfield has a whole new host of opportunities in front of her in the next year as the 2025 Adair County Fair Queen.
Rardin was selected by judges and crowned last Wednesday on the first night of the fair. Runner-up in the contest was Kacie Ford.
“I’m really grateful for everyone who helped me run for queen again after running for it last year too,” Rardin said. “I appreciate the fair board for them giving me the opportunity to be the fair queen and to compete at the state fair level.”
Rardin, the daughter of Josh and Lisa Rardin, was joined by Little Mister Nash Williams and Little Miss Alyx Mensing throughout the fair. They handed out ribbons and trophies, and took advantage of other photo opportunities.
“I’ve enjoyed going around to all the shows, handing out ribbons, being at all the different fair events and seeing the fair from a different perspective than I normally would,” she said.
Aside from her duties as the new queen, Rardin exhibited swine and cattle at the fair. She also entered photos in the static exhibit building and participated in the $20 Challenge and clothing selection and table setting contests.
All of Rardin’s siblings — Ty (16), Sofie (14) and Luke (11) — are all also particpating in the fair. They are members of the Adair County Hot Shots 4-H Club.
Rardin will be a senior at Nodaway Valley High School where she will serve as president this year of the FFA and student council, be a leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and participate in softball, dance team and golf.
Among all of those things, Rardin is excited for the people she’ll get to meet because she’s fair queen.
“I’m excited for all the parades and being able to meet everybody,” Rardin said. “Hopefully I will be able to meet all the fair queens up at the state fair too.”
The Iowa State Fair Queen will be named Saturday, Aug. 9.
Runner-Up in the Little Miss Contest was Jayci Geidel and Little Miss Congeniality was Alaina Baier. Runner-Up for Little Mister was Levi Nelson and Mister Personality was Evan Croxell.
