Library has a wealth of historical information

Find your history at the Greenfield Public Library! The library has a wealth of historical and genealogical information curated by the Adair County Anquestors Genealogy Society, a chapter of the Iowa Genealogy Society. On the shelves you will find compilations of obituaries spanning 1900-2024, local history books, class annuals/yearbooks, plat books, local family histories (complied by families and donated to the collection), cemetery books, and more.

Beyond the shelves, the library has over 100 years of microfilm available to browse. Including The Adair County Free Press, Adair County Democrat, Adair County Reporter, and Fontanelle Observer among others. Stop by the library to quell your curiosity or find a new curiosity!

You can also start your research journey on our website that has indexes of obituaries, births, marriages, divorces, and reunions the Anquestors have complied. Also found at the library and on our website is the Greenfield Cemetery index.
