The Orient-Macksburg girls and boys track teams competed in a meet last week at East Union.
On the girls side, the Bulldogs weren’t able to factor into the team scoring, however Wayne won the team race with 199 points and Bedford was a distance second-place with 83.
The Bulldogs were led by a pair of top-3 finishes from Emma Boswell. She had a season high in the high jump at 4-10. That jump gave her the runner-up finish in the event. She also placed third in the long jump with a best jump of 14-0.5. Her third top-10 was a 10th place finish in the 200 (32.90 seconds).
Ella Boswell had a pair of top-10 finishes, taking fifth in the 800 in 3:01.84 and ninth in the long jump with a jump of 12-02. Mattie Thompson placed sixth in the 400m dash in 1:15.69 and nearly added a second top-10 finish in the 100 with an 11th-place time of 16.26.
Payne collects pair of season-bests
The boys were led by a pair of season bests by Mason Payne in field events. The Bulldogs did not factor in the team scores. Lenox won the meet with a team score of 168 points.
Payne competed in discus, long jump and the 100m dash, earning season bests in both field events. He was seventh in long jump, leaping 15-09, and was eighth in the discus with a throw of 94-04.
Andreas Pierce entered four events, taking his best finish away from the 200, a race he was eighth in with a time of 27.38. He was 11th in the discus (89-04) and 100 (13.56). He had a 13th place finish in the long jump (15-03).
