Mailer next week will include tax-related information

Proposed rates, public hearing dates included

The Adair County supervisors set their maximum property tax levy public hearing at their meeting Wednesday, Feb. 26.

This is part of what sets in a motion a mailing that will go out from the Adair County Auditor’s Office next week that all property owners will receive. Auditor Mandy Berg said the mailing come on green paper.

This is the second year of this mailing, which explains maximum property tax levy information for the city, county and school district a property is in and when public hearings are.

“Each property owner will receive one for each property they own, if they’re in different taxing districts,” Berg said. “So, if they have property in different towns or in different school districts [they will receive separate mailings].”

Each entity has a choice of what they levy for taxes after values are set each December, to the level that state law allows. This mailing gives an example of what taxes would like like at the listed rate.
