Event Briefs for Wednesday, March 13

Irish Session music March 16

Des Moines Irish Session will perform traditional Irish music at the Warren Cultural Center 7 p.m. Saturday, March 16, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! This is the sixth show of WCC’s 2023-24 “Locals and Legends” series. This group has performed continuously for over 30 years, meeting for an informal, traditional seisiún every Tuesday at various Des Moines area venues.

Tickets are $20 for adults, and students (high school and younger) are free. Order tickets at warrenculturalcenter.comor get them at the door.

Spring Break at the Library

The Greenfield Public Library has planned a host of activities for area youngsters to enjoy during the upcoming Spring Break.

All during the day Monday, March 18, come enjoy mini mini golf. Make miniature golf even smaller by building a mini mini golf course.

All throughout the day Tuesday, March 19, enjoy coloring fun. All the library’s coloring supplies will be out with plenty of coloring pages for youngsters to make their own colorful creation.

All day Wednesday, March 20, enjoy a day of building. Youngsters are invited to test their building skills. Legos, Duplo blocks, lear blocks and more will be out in order for kids to complete various building challenges.

Fitness Center’s Spring Break Camp

The Adair County Health and Fitness Center plans a Spring Break Camp 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 19. Cost is $15 per member and $17 for non-members. Deadline for registration is March 13.

Storm Spotter class March 20 in Menlo

The National Weather Service is offering a storm spotter training course 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 at the Menlo Community Building.

The training will be presented by the Des Moines Office of the National Weather Service and is free and open to the public. This training is required every two years for registered storm spotters.

Wolverine Gala March 22

The second annual Wolverine Gala (formerly known as the NV Parent Prom) will be held Friday, March 22 at Sixteen Oaks.

Attendees must be 21 years old or older.

Easter Bunny Breakfast March 23

The Adair County Health and Fitness Center presents its second annual Easter Bunny Breakfast 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday, March 23. Cost is $30 per family. Registrations are due by March 18. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos.

Puzzle Swap March 23 at the library

The Greenfield Public Library is holding a Puzzle Swap event 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 23. Love puzzles? Have puzzles at home that you’ve finished and loved but won’t do again? Exchange your puzzles for “new to you” ones.

Easter Egg Hunts planned around Adair County

• The Fontanelle Enterprise Club is planning Fontanelle’s Easter Egg Hunt for Saturday, March 23. The hunt will begin at 3 p.m. and attendees should meet at the Slab beginning at 2:45 p.m. and they will be led to the city park for the hunt shortly before it begins.

• The Orient Women’s Club plans to have Easter Egg Hunts in the west parking lot and softball field on the Orient-Macksburg School campus Saturday, March 30. Photos with the Easter Bunny 9-10 a.m. with egg hunts staggered at the following times: 0-2 years old at 10 a.m.; 3-4 years old at 10:15; 5-7 years old at 10:30 and 8 and up at 10:45. Face painting, crafts, stories and snacks available.

• Greenfield Chamber Main Street, Greenfield Business Women and the Greenfield Firemates are hosting an egg hunt 11 a.m. sharp Saturday, March 30 on the Adair County Courthouse lawn. Age groups will be divded by quadrant with 3 and under on the southwest corner, 4-5 on the southeast corner, 6-7 on the northeast corner and 8 and over on the northwest corner.

• Bridgewater has planned a meal, party and Easter Egg Hunt for Saturday, March 30. The pancake meal begins at 11 a.m. at the Bridgewater Activity Center with crafts beginning at noon. The Easter Egg Hunt will be at 1 p.m. in the city park. Attendees are asked to meet at the Bridgewater Activity Center to be led down to the park.
