Santa at The Gathering Place
Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet children 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 at The Gathering Place, 102 SW Kent, Greenfield during the Winter Extravaganza.
Admission to this event is a food or hygiene item.
Vendor booths at this event include crafts, food, jewelry, home decor, coffee, homemade soaps, scentsy, 31 gifts and so much more.
Bridgewater, Fontanelle to celebrate Christmas
Fontanelle and Bridgewater’s organizations invite the public to their Christmas celebrations that are coming up.
On Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11-1 p.m., the Fontanelle Lions Club will have Pancake Day from 11 to 1 p.m. at the fire station in Fontanelle. There will also be a drawing available for eight $25 Fareway gift cards during the meal.
A special visit will be made from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus from 11 to 1 p.m. in the community center.
Santa and Mrs. Claus made visits already in Fontanelle at the grand lighting of the city park, hosted by the Fontanelle Enterprise Club.
The Fontanelle Public Library has its Santa Shop planned for Dec. 15, 16 and 20 by appointment only. This is a fun event for children 12 and under to enjoy. Kids will shop with a library helper while parents/caregivers patiently wait in the seating area. Please call the library at 641-745-4961 to set up an appointment.
Bridgewater will hold its Christmas event 1 p.m. Christmas Eve at the Bridgewater Activity Center with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will be cookies and crafts also available during the event.
Holan students in concert Sunday
On Sunday afternoon, 1:30 p.m., Dec. 10, the Warren Cultural Center in Greenfield will come alive with a Piano Christmas Music Recital – everything from “Frosty, the Snowman” to “Oh Holy Night.”
There will be guest vocalists, guest guitarists, a guest flutist, guest pianists and more fun with piano duets and double piano duets performed by pianists Anna Herrick, Wendy Gutierrez, Millie McIntire, McKenzie Van Horn, Elin Huber, Ryder Noland, Callie Mensing, Shyanne Lee, Allegra Rectenbaugh, Micah Broers, Jack Herrick, Oliver Freeland, Amelia Freeland, Jaxson Carstens, Lincoln Van Horn, Reid Steele, Alexis Dreher, Kenzie Lilly, Joseph Lochmoeller, Micah Lochmoeller, Josie Mason and Melissa Buckner.
The public is invited to come and enjoy the 1½ hours of the talents and gifts of these young people.
Locals and Legends Concert Series continues at WCC
Lani and her full band will be performing Christmas songs with a sprinkling of some non-seasonal originals 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16.
Lani, a Colombian-American singer/songwriter based in Des Moines, blends her Colombian heritage with American popular music in her energetic performances. Known for her heartfelt ballads as well as infectious pop singles, she pours her soul into creating a musical experience that resonates with diverse audiences. Lani and her band create a fusion of cultures that ignites a vibrant and unforgettable musical journey.
Tickets are $20 for adults, with free admission for students (high school and younger), and are available at warrenculturalcenter.com or at the door.
