Event Briefs for the week of Wednesday, Nov. 29

‘Christmas in the Village’ continues Dec. 2

Greenfield’s ‘Christmas in the Village’ continues Saturday, Dec. 2 with several events on the town’s Public Square.

The Adair County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s 36th annual Tour of Trees will feature Scott Armstrong’s assortment of villages, along with more than 30 beautifully decorated trees on display in the Warren Cultural Center, decorated and contributed by local businesses and individuals. Tree viewing will be from 10-11:30 a.m. and again 1-4 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person.

The same day will be the Greenfield Business Womens’ Chocolate Affair Extrordinaire on the main floor of the Warren Cultural Center, where chocolate treats may be purchased by the pound.

The hospital auxiliary’s luncheon will happen in the WCC auditorium during the noon hour with entertainment and information about the group’s mission and recent activities.

Christmas in Casey

The Casey Service Club would like to invite you to Christmas in Casey Saturday, Dec. 2.

On Dec. 2, the annual “Christmas in Casey” event will take place 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Local shops and businesses have several sales and specials going on as well as various vendors set up in the Casey Community Building and the Casey Vistor’s Center.

In addition to the vendor show and  local shopping, the ACGC senior class will be serving a chili and potato soup lunch. This meal is a free will donation fundraiser for the senior class to help fund their annual trip to Washington DC.

Be sure to bring the kids to the Community Building at noon to visit Santa Claus!

Orient Library Candy Sale this weekend

Mark your calendars for the annual Candy Sale sponsored by the Orient Community Library Friends will be held again this year from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Farmers & Merchants Bank meeting room in Orient.

Delicious homemade candy made by local cooks will be offered which includes caramels, fudge, peanut brittle, peanut clusters, peanut butter balls, popcorn balls, divinity, chocolate almonds and much more. There will be mixed boxes with an assortment of candies along with boxes with single kind of candy. Enter the Candy Sale through the rear door on the west side of the bank building. All candy has been boxed in advance in half and one pound boxes for you to purchase.

Santa visiting Orient

Santa Claus will appear in Orient at the fire station, 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.

Following Santa Claus will be the community drawing and soup supper.

Locals and Legends Concert Series continues at WCC

Lani and her full band will be performing Christmas songs with a sprinkling of some non-seasonal originals 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16.

Lani, a Colombian-American singer/songwriter based in Des Moines, blends her Colombian heritage with American popular music in her energetic performances. Known for her heartfelt ballads as well as infectious pop singles, she pours her soul into creating a musical experience that resonates with diverse audiences. Lani and her band create a fusion of cultures that ignites a vibrant and unforgettable musical journey.

Tickets are $20 for adults, with free admission for students (high school and younger), and are available at warrenculturalcenter.com or at the door.
