An impressive opening-night double-double from sophomore Emma Boswell was key for Orient-Macksburg staying in a girls basketball game at home with Essex Tuesday, Nov. 21, however the Trojans went home with the 50-41 win.
Essex led 11-7 at the end of the first quarter and 37-20 at halftime.
Boswell poured in 30 points and 20 rebounds in the loss, going 8-of-12 from the field.
Also with double-digit rebounds (15) was sophomore Kaydence Kirkland.
Senior guard Kinsey Eslinger scored seven points and made seven assists. She was a clean 3-for-3 from the field in the game.
Brooke Burns and Tori Burns lit up the scoreboard for Essex, pouring in 22 points each and combining to go 8-of-15 from beyond the 3-point arc. Cindy Swain (15) was Essex’s leading rebounder.
Orient-Macksburg (0-1) was set to host Hamburg (0-2) Tuesday, Nov. 28.
