Simpson women fall in second round of soccer nationals

Simpson College

The Simpson College women’s soccer program not only made the national tournament but won one game in it this season. It was the program’s second appearance at nationals and their first since 1999.

The Storm, which includes Nodaway Valley alum Macy Kuhns, lost in the second round of the tournament, however, seeing their dream season end.

Simpson, 15-2-2 on the season embarking on the national tournament, defeated St. Catherine 2-1 Saturday, Nov. 11 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Cassie Nash found the back of the net in the 25th and 52nd minutes to lift the team to that victory.

Turning around Sunday to play the No. 11-ranked University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, the Storm fell 3-1. Nash again scored Simpson’s goal, this time in the 58th minute.
