Event Briefs for the week of Wednesday, July 12

Show Stock Buddies Friday night at the Fair

Organizers Heidi Rohrig and Lori Christensen are excited to announce the second year of Show Stock Buddies at the Adair County Fair, 7 p.m. this Friday night in the show arena.

Show Stock Buddies is an event created to integrate people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (Buddies) with Adair County livestock exhibitors to give the Buddy an opportunity that they may not otherwise receive. During this event, two mentors are paired with a Buddy to exhibit a pig, sheep or goat. The program allows the next generation of agriculturalists to give back to their communities while giving an opportunity to the buddy too.

The Show Stock Buddies event mirrors the Iowa Pork Producers’ Bacon Buddies Show at the Iowa State Fair. Some of the mentors and buddies here have even participated in the Iowa State Fair show.

Organizers say this event could not be possibly without the generous support of the community. Those interested in sponsoring the show are encouraged to do so.
