Randy Stoner was born March 23, 1951, to Evelyn Finck Stoner Baudler and Lyle Eldon Stoner in Greenfield. He grew up in Fontanelle and graduated high school in 1969 from Bridgewater-Fontanelle and continued his education at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) where he became a diesel mechanic. He worked at EFCO in Des Moines for 30 plus years and retired from there.

Randy was a member of many Masonic organizations starting at King David in 2009 and then moving to Daylight Masonic Lodge where he was Master in 2021, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason. He was also in the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine of Altoona and was asked to join the Royal Order of the Jesters most recently in his masonic journey. He enjoyed being a member of the Parrot Head Club where he provided numerous pieces of art for auction to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

His hobbies included hunting with his brother Chris and the rest of the gang at Hoopee Hollow, hiking in Colorado and Montana with Wayne and Jim and golfing. He also enjoyed tropical travels with his beautiful wife Wanda. Randy took great pride in building a tropical oasis in his backyard for all to enjoy known as Stoner Island, where many enjoyed libations, laughter and a little good-hearted ribbing from Captain Stoner himself.

Randy is survived by his wife Wanda; Wanda’s son Jesse of Montezuma; siblings: Rod (Mary) Stoner of Iowa Falls, Shelly (Stan) Herr of Oskaloosa, Sherry (Brent) Arntzen of Urbandale, Chris (Tracy) Baudler of Fontanelle, Martha (Stacy) Garrels of Indianola and Jonathan (Enrique) Baudler of Des Moines; grandchildren: Alias, Allison, Rachel and James Thomson of Omaha, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews, close friends and four-legged kids Bailey and Joe.
