Beef Month promotion at Fareway Friday

The Adair County Cattlemen will be serving supper 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 26, in the Greenfield Fareway parking lot to celebrate May as Beef Month.

A grilled steak sandwich, bag of chips and bottle of water costs $6. The first 100 meals will get a free movie ticket to Grand Theatre and Video, redeemable May 26-June 4.

Visitors can sign up to win one of four $50 beef bundles at Fareway.

Prehistoric entertainer coming to Fontanelle Library

The Fontanelle Public Library welcomes Stomp Chomp Roar, an entertainment and educating program for kids, 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1.

This is part of the “Find Your Voice” summer reading program.

Fitness Center camps open

The Adair County Health and Fitness Center has announced camp opportunities for this summer for area kids.

Preschool camps with the theme of arts and crafts, splish splash, outer space, gymnastics and more and will happen 9-11 a.m. Wednesdays, June 7 through June 28. Cost is $10 per camp. Registration will close the Friday before each camp, or when a maximum capacity of 12 participants is reached.

Youth camps are 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 6 through June 29. Themes are tie dye, arts and crafts, splish spash, outer space, gymnastics and more, 3 2 1 Blastoff!, around the campfire and baking and cooking 101. Cost is $12 per participant. Registration will close the Friday before each camp, or when a maximum capacity of 15 participants is reached.

Last in-person YQCA training

There will be one last in-person Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) training available 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 31 at the Adair County ISU Extension and Outreach Office on the Greenfield square. Prospective exhibitors must bring a copy of the certificate to the extension office for their files once the training has been completed. This training is required of all who exhibit animals at the fair.

Block Party on the Greenfield Square

Greenfield Chamber/Main Street invites area residents to a Block Party Thursday, June 1 to kick off the summer farmers market season. The Greenfield Square Farmers Market will be held throughout the summer on the Greenfield Public Square.

During the block party, enjoy the market from 4-6 p.m., entertainment starting at 4:30 p.m. and a meal beginning at 5 p.m (while supplies last).

The farmers market will be every Thursday, June through September.

Mentalist coming to WCC

The Warren Cultural Center in Greenfield presents Mentalist Lance Nicolai 7 p.m. Saturday, June 3. This show is the sixth in the 2022-2023 “Locals and Legends” series.

Nicolai is one of the busiest performing mentalists in Iowa. At a very young age, he realized he had a special gift called intuition. He first learned of his intuitive abilities when he was able to guess the exact card his dad selected out of the deck.

Tickets are $15 for adults and free admission for students (high school and younger). Buy tickets online at warrenculturalcenter.com or at the door.

Youth Fishing Clinic June 3

There will be a Youth Fishing Clinic 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3 at Lake Orient.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the event is free to kids of all ages. Door prizes will be awarded and lunch will be provided.
