NV, O-M seniors due to graduate in Sunday ceremonies

The time has come for seniors at area schools to step through to the next season of life and graduate from high school this Sunday.

Nodaway Valley will host a 1 p.m. commencement exercises ceremony in the high school gymnasium this Sunday, May 21. Special music, speeches from students, recognition of accomplishments and more are expected to adorn the ceremony. The graduates will then cross the stage to receive their diplomas, providing they have satisfied all graduation requirements of the school district. The class motto is, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” The class color is seafoam green. The class flower is the chrysanthemum.

Orient-Macksburg will hold a 2 p.m. commencement exercises ceremony in its gymnasium the same day. In similar fashion, it will include speeches and recognition of accomplishments. There are nine graduates set to cross the stage to receive their diplomas, their last rite as high school students.

Both schools held various activities throughout the week celebrating the senior classes, including awards nights, senior breakfasts, a clap out walk and baccalaureate services.
