Sprayer Specialties, Inc. opens Casey location

Farmers who have spraying needs of all kinds will now have options much closer to home. Sprayer Specialties, Inc., based in Grimes, opened its fourth location on the south side of the Casey exit off of Interstate 80 recently.

The company’s aim is to serve all of a farmer’s spraying needs with one stop, explained Lincoln Mincks, an operations manager with the business.

“As everyone knows, Grimes is starting to get more and more traffic. It’s a lot harder for farmers and those in agriculture with trailers to get in and out of there,” Mincks said. “This is a nice outpost, if you will, for people to come pick up fittings, hose, tanks, sprayer supplies and just a further west location for us to service the customer of western Iowa.”

Mincks commented that Casey was chosen because of its central location in western Iowa and for the visibility the town’s exit offers.

“Casey seemed like a good fit for visibility, and we already have a good customer base out here,” Mincks said. The company hopes to be able to provide products and service to customers in western Iowa. Their other locations are in Brimfield, Illinois and Gardner, Kansas.

Sprayer Specialties hones in on liquid storage and liquid transfer. They don’t sell the liquid, whether that be fertilizer, chemicals or water, but they sell the rest that you need to complete a job. Some of the items the business carries includes pumps, tanks, hose, fittings and safety supplies. They also build their own sprayers, stock inventory for replacements and service them as well. They have replacement parts for pumps and other sprayer components in case of breakdown.

With an 800 to 1,000-gallon sprayer, a farmer is going to want to fill that sprayer and mix chemical as quickly as possible, Mincks said.

“They’re going to want a trailer there with water capacity and quick ways to mix their chemicals and fill their tanks to keep them running all day long,” he said.

Mid-January to mid-summer, Sprayer Specialties is the busiest with agricultural applications. In colder months, the company transitions to servicing those applicating deicing fluid on roads ahead of winter storms.

“We’re fully open. Our plan is to have this location fully stocked by later Summer or Fall to showcase what we have at our other locations. Right now we’re very functional and are bringing items out to customers each morning. Customers can pick up items here at the Casey location if they order them the previous day from the Grimes location,” Mincks said. “We’re glad to be here in Casey, servicing the people of Adair, Casey, Greenfield, and all the surrounding communities.”
