Fontanelle Lutheran men serving Thanksgiving Dinner

Fontanelle Emmanuel Lutheran Church men’s group and outreach will be hosting their annual Thanksgiving Meal 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20 in the Parish Hall, 424 Scott St., Fontanelle.

Turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes and gravy with green beans, rolls, pie and drink will be served. Take out orders are available.

This meal is for a free-will offering.

Cornerstone hosting Thanksgiving Eve Service

Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Greenfield will host a Thanksgiving Eve praise and worship service 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23.

The service is scheduled to include traditional and contemporary praise music, scripture, prayer, a brief message, a time of sharing what you are thankful for and music from two groups of AWANA youth.

All are invited to attend.

Fontanelle hosting interactive Christmas events

Residents of Fontanelle are invited to decorate their home in Christmas lights and win prizes for their display.

Notify event organizers at 641-745-5589 if interested in participating in the contest and have lights on nightly. Judging will be from Dec. 14 to 19.

The park will be decorated by community organizations and they would like the community’s help. Paint or decorate a tire and join in on the fun. Contest Jessi Young, Sam Gettler or Heather Schneider at their daycare in Fontanelle to pick up a tire.

The organizers of this event would like tires to be returned by this Saturday, Nov. 19. They would like to thank Bridgewater Tires and More for donating the tires.

Greenfield announces rough details of Christmas events

Greenfield Chamber/Main Street announced this week dates for its Christmas events in the community.

Friday, Nov. 25 the community will hold its Festival of Lights Parade at 6 p.m. around the square. Santa visits will follow the parade in the Long’s Park gazebo. The Greenfield Business Women will serve cookies and cocoa near Grand Theatre. The theme for the event is “A Glam and Glitzy Christmas.”

Saturday, Nov. 25 Greenfield will observe Small Business Saturday, a chance for shoppers to take advantage of in-store specials, giveaways and see the latest holiday merchandise as soon as they’re put on the shelves.

Saturday, Dec. 3 will be the Greenfield Business Women Holiday Tree Tour, Adair County Hospital Auxiliary Luncheon and Greenfield Business Women Chocolate Affair. The tree tour and chocolate will be out from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The luncheon will be at noon and feature entertainment.

The Adair County Fair Board will host a Winter Fair Fest 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at the fairgrounds. It will feature gift wrapping, photos with Santa for kids and pets, as well as kids’ crafts and games. Lunch will be available.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, will be a Winter Extravaganza Craft and Vendor Show at The Gathering Place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Orient library candy sale Saturday, Dec. 3

Mark your calendars! The annual candy sale, sponsored by the Orient Community Library Friends, will be held once again this year from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Farmers & Merchants Bank meeting room in Orient. Delicious homemade candy made by local cooks will be offered. There will be mixed boxes with an assortment of candies along with boxes with one kind of candy. Enter the Candy Sale through the rear door on the west side of the bank building. All candy has been boxed in advance in half and one pound boxes for you to purchase.
