Winners from Fourth of July shared

By many accounts, Greenfield’s Independence Celebration Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4 went very well.

According to Greenfield Chamber/Main Street (GCMS) Director Stacie Eshelman, about 70 volunteers made the festivities possible.

Sunday night, “three times” the amount of people who attended the lakeside event the last time Greenfield hosted the Fourth of July attended it this time, organizers think. Karaoke, the Cody Hicks Band, food vendors, yard games and the fireworks were all a big hit. Organizers appreciated that some people took advantage of a shuttle bus from Greenfield Fareway to alleviate some of the parking concerns at Lake Greenfield.

The parade lasted about 45 minutes on Monday morning but was full of original, unique entries of all types. Nate Maiers, GCMS Promotions Committee Chairman, reports that over 60 participated in food contests on the square. Food vendors report they did very well.
