Baseball, softball pairings released

The Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union and Iowa High School Athletic Association released recently their softball and baseball postseason pairings.

In Class 2A, Region 4, Nodaway Valley softball opens the postseason trail with a trip to Central Decatur Friday, July 1. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. The winner of that game plays West Central Valley 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 in Stuart in a regional quarterfinal. Regional semifinals, set for Friday, July 8, are at Interstate 35 and West Central Valley. The highest remaining ranked team from the final IGHSAU rankings will host the regional final 7 p.m. Monday, July 11.

In Class 1A, Region 3, Orient-Macksburg softball will host Essex 7 p.m. Friday, July 1. The winner of that game will play Wednesday, July 6 at Southeast Warren. The regional semifinals in that bracket are Friday, July 8 at Southeast Warren and Exira-EHK (Kimballton). The regional final will be hosted by the highest remaining ranked team Monday, July 11.

In baseball’s Class 2A, District 14, Nodaway Valley/O-M hosts Central Decatur to start the postseason 7 p.m. Saturday, July 2. The winner of that game advances to play Interstate 35 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 at Des Moines Christian High School in Urbandale. Des Moines Christian plays in the 7 p.m. game July 5 against either Pleasantville or Prairie City-Monroe. District finals are Saturday, July 9 at Davis County and Des Moines Christian with the substate final game Tuesday, July 12 at Indianola High School.
