Priscilla Kay McClelland was born Nov. 6, 1940, to Joseph and Darline (Woosley) Reha in Orient, Iowa. Priscilla graduated from Orient High School in 1958. She was employed in Des Moines for a short time before she married Dwayne McClelland May 1, 1960. To this union, a daughter, Lori Jean, and a son, Steven Dwayne, were born. As her children grew, she took her turn serving as Brownie and Cub Scout leader, and taught Sunday school and Bible school at United Methodist Church in Greenfield of which she was a member. She also served on many church committees.

In 1976 she started a long career working for Adair County. She initially took a job with the sheriff’s office. From there she went on to work in the assessor’s office and in 1981 she started as a deputy in the recorder’s office. She was elected for two terms as Adair County Recorder, before retiring in 2003. She took her job very seriously and was proud to serve the people of Adair County. In addition to her work, Priscilla was also very talented at making cakes, an art she learned from her mom. She made many amazing wedding cakes for family and friends, as well as the best birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren.

After retiring, she and Dwayne loved vacations, cruises and spending winters in Mesa, Arizona. She said: “a person works and strives all their life for better things, but then retires and lives in a tin can in Arizona.” She also loved birds, butterflies, cats and her collection of miniature tea sets. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her four grandsons and three great-grandchildren. She enjoyed family vacations, watching her grandsons’ sporting events and other family gatherings.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Dwayne, sister Margaret and brothers Richard and Robert (infant).

She is survived by her children, Lori (Mark) Ramsey of Greenfield and Steven (friend Vickie) McClelland of Urbandale; grandsons: Kyle (Jenna) Ramsey of Stanton, Clay Ramsey of Corning, Nicholas (Gina) McClelland of Cedar Rapids and Tyler (friend Abby) McClelland of Brooklyn, New York; great-grandchildren: Madison, Reed and Grace Ramsey of Stanton as well as other relatives and friends.
