Conservation hosting Fishing Clinic for youth
The Adair County Conservation Board is holding a Youth Fishing Clinic 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4 at Lake Orient.
Enjoy Iowa’s free fishing weekend by joining the fun at Lake Orient. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and is free to kids of all ages.
Door prizes will be awarded and lunch provided for all participants.

Bee keeping class June 11 in Orient
Mark Your Calendars! The Orient Community Library is hosting a class on bee keeping 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11. Learn about bees – how important bees are, various kinds of bees in a hive, bee life cycles, different parts of a hive, how to harvest honey and how to catch swarms of bees. Presenter will be Jeff Norman, a beekeeper from Creston.
Come join us for this very informative class and learn all about bees. No cost. The Orient Community Library is located on the east side of the Orient-Macksburg school in Orient.
Fitness Center summer camps now open
Registration is open now for youth summer camps through the Adair County Health and Fitness Center. Deadline for the first week of camp is Friday, June 3.
Camps are 9 to 11:30 a.m., but the cooking and baking camp will be 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.Camps include:
• Arts and Crafts for ages 5 to 12 - Tuesday, June 7
• “I Spy” at the Park for ages 5 to 10 - Thursday, June 9
• “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” for 4 to 8 year olds - Tuesday, June 14
• “Under the Sea” for 4 to 8 year olds - Tuesday, June 1
• “Gymnastics and More” for ages 5 to 10 - Tuesday, June 21
• “Around the Campfire” for ages 7 to 12 - Tuesday, June 23
• “Baking and Cooking 101″ for ages 7 to 12 - Tuesday, June 28 and Thursday, June 30
“Kick Off to Summer” at Greenfield UMC June 5
Fun for all ages and free to all, 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5. Greenfield United Methodist Church is holding its annual “Kick Off to Summer” Day in back of the church. Among the fun activities are Slip N’ Slide Kickball, dunk tank, bounce house, miniature golf, yard games and water balloons.
Conservation Summer Camps open
Adair County Conservation Board announces summer camp opportunities for area youth.Summer naturalist Sabrina Becker says there are opportunities for all ages: “Nature Explorers” June 15-16 for K-2nd grade; “Geocaching and Orienteering” for 3-5th grades June 20; Nature Survivalist for 6 to 8th grades and “Go Wild” for 9-12th grade and Preschool/Enchanted Forest and Water Juen 16-17.

Magician coming to WCC June 18
