Martensdale-St.Mary’s shut out the visiting Nodaway Valley Wolverines in a 4-0 game Thursday, June 3.
The game was quiet before Martensdale-St. Mary’s scored a run in the third and added three more in the fifth.
The Wolverines were not able to make a scoring threat as they were limited to one hit by Evan Forcht. Nodaway Valley struck out 10 times.
Caelen Devault pitched six innings and struck out eight. Martensdale-St. Marys finished with three hits but walked six times. The home team struck out nine times.
Two consecutive three-run innings propelled Nodaway Valley to a 7-3 win Tuesday, June 1 at Southwest Valley.
The Wolverines broke the scoreless game in the fourth with three runs. Southwest Valley was able to produce one run in the fourth.
Nodaway Valley repeated the performance in the fifth with another three runs.
Boston DeVault led the Wolverines with three hits, four RBIs, and a had a stolen base. As a team, Nodaway Valley had five hits and three of them were doubles. The Wolverines were also walked five times and had seven strikeouts.
Evan Forcht pitched six innings and struck out five.
For Southwest Valley, Kade Hutchings had a hit and a RBI. As a team, the Wolves had four hits and seven walks and strikeouts.
Blake Thomas and Hutchings shared pitching duties. Hutchings threw five innings and struck out four. Thomas struck out three over two innings.
Nodaway Valley (3-2) plays Mount Ayr 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8 in Greenfield. The Wolverines play 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 9 at Earlham and 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 11 at East Union.
