Game Preview: Wolverines set to lock horns with North Linn at state tournament

With its first trip to the state tournament, four-seed Nodaway Valley (23-0) is set to take on five-seed North Linn (21-2) at 9 p.m. Tuesday in Wells Fargo Arena.

Both the Wolverines and Lynx are coming off near identical Region Championship games. Nodaway Valley took down AHSTW 55-33, while North Linn rolled through Bellevue 54-36.

Entering Tuesday, Nodaway Valley leads the points per game mark with 67.1 to North Linn’s 63.3 and out rebounds the Lynx 42.8 to 31.9. Turnovers per game, on the other hand, go in favor of North Linn, who average 12.9 to Nodaway Valley’s 19.7.

Junior Maddax DeVault’s 24 points per game and freshman Lindsey Davis’ 13.7 points per game each eclipse North Linn’s leading scorer, Kamryn Kurt’s 13.5 points per game. Kurt’s 130 assists are slightly below DeVault’s and Davis’ combined 175.

North Linn enters with nine girls playing in more than 10 games, with five appearing in 23 games and four entering in 22 games. All 12 players on Nodaway Valley’s roster have appeared in more than 10 games with six players appearing in all 23 games.
