Elsie Lorraine Creveling, 81, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, while a resident at Crest Haven Care Center.
A cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements and online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.com.
Elsie, the daughter of Stanley and Fern (Graham) Cregeen, was born in Clearfield Aug. 31, 1939.
Elsie graduated from Diagonal High School with the class of 1957. Elsie married LeRoy Giles and to this marriage were born four sons: Tim, Tom, Terry and Ted. They later parted ways and Elsie married Garey Creveling and to this marriage, a son, Troy was born.
Elsie had a caring and giving heart and her lifelong work, in addition to raising her sons, was nursing. She graduated from SWCC with an L.P.N. and worked in the nursing profession for 42 years.
Elsie loved playing bingo and played in various places including the Eagles and the Elks in Creston, as well as in Clearfield and Greenfield. She loved her cat Maddy, tending to her plants and dancing at Caldwells in Redding. Most of all, Elsie loved her family and loved to get together with them. Family time was filled with visiting and jokes, playing of yard games and eating.
Survivors include her sons: Tim (Ellen) Giles of Mount Ayr, Tom (Jennifer) Giles of Palm Bay, Florida, Terry Giles of Alliance, Nebraska, Ted Giles of Creston, Troy (Michelle) Creveling of Clarinda; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings Mary (Joe) McCall of Picher, Oklahoma and Dale (Phyllis) Cregeen of Rockford, Illinois; other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Richard Cregeen and Ronnie Cregeen, grandson Dusty Giles and husband Garey Creveling.
