The Class A all-District 9 team was released Thursday night, with several players getting first and second-team honors.

Among those receiving honors, however, was Southwest Valley’s Tallen Myers. Myers received the individual award for Defensive MVP in District 9 for the 2020 season.

Tallen Myers’ season saw him post a team-leading 47 1/2 tackles, 31 coming as solos. He had one sack and nine tackles for a loss in the linebacker position.

First-team

On the first team offense was Brendan Knapp, Robbie Barnes and Tallen Myers.

As a dual-threat quarterback, Knapp passed for seven touchdowns with 612 yards passing. But, despite playing out of the quarterback position, Knapp was selected as a running back on first-team.

The leader in carries in the district, Knapp was second in rushing with 1,007 yards. He also had the most rushing scores with 12, putting him second in the district in total touchdowns scored.

Barnes and Myers were part of the offensive line that helped Knapp be so successful. As a team, SWV rushed for 1,793 yards with 20 touchdowns on key blocking from Barnes and Myers.

On defense, Myers and Tucker Tepoel were selected to the first-team.

Along with the MVP efforts of Myers, Tepoel put up good numbers as a defensive lineman.

Tepoel had 36 tackles and 6 1/2 sacks (team-high), and 18 tackles for a loss. He also had a fumble recovery.

Second-team

On second team offense for the Timberwolves was wideout Blaine Venteicher.

Venteicher was second on the team in receptions and in receiving yards behind Tucker Tepoel in both categories. He had eight receptions for 133 yards receiving with one score.

Dalton Calkins was the final member of SWV’s offensive line to make all-district, getting selected on to the second-team.

Calkins helped Southwest Valley to a record of 6-3, and a brief state-rank in Class A. It is the highest win total the Timberwolves have posted since their 9-1 2017 season.

On defense for second-team was several Timberwolves, with Knapp, Cade Myers and Kaden Jacobs all getting selected.

Knapp pulled down two interceptions and racked up 9 1/2 tackles as a defensive back.

Defensive lineman Cade Myers had 34 stops, 19 solo, and 4 1/2 sacks. He had 10 1/2 stops for a loss, also.

Jacobs recovered four fumbles, and had 22 tackles. He tied for the team-high in sacks with 6 1/2 and had 13 tackles for a loss.
