Business/home decorating
contest

Creston Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an outdoor holiday home decorating contest Dec. 3 to 14. Additionally, a business window decorating contest will take place during the same time period. There is no cost to participate. Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each category. The public will vote by contacting the chamber office.

Lighted Christmas parade, Festival of Trees canceled

The Creston Chamber of Commerce confirmed that the lighted Christmas parade and Festival of Trees for this year have been canceled. The ISSB drive thru Santa event will be held. Updates on other events will be published as they are announced.

Local bank lobbies closed — services by appointment only

First National Bank: First National Bank has announced that due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, bank lobby access at all locations will now be limited to appointment only. Drive-through services, ATMs and digital services will remain available. Bankers will be proactively contacting customers who require timely service, such as mortgage closings and loan signings. ISSB bank: access to the lobby has now been limited to appointment only. The drive-up windows will remain open and customer service representatives will be available via phone or email during normal business hours. In-person appointments will be considered as needed. To request an appointment or speak with a Customer Service Representative call 888-508-0142. You can also access your account through the online banking and Mobile Banking App.

Union County Public Health moves to
temporary
location

Greater Regional Health announces that effective Nov. 11, Union County Public Health will be relocated temporarily to the Emergency Management Agency Building, located at 705 E. Taylor St. on Highway 34. Renovations are being done to their current building and should be finished by April 2021. Union County Public Health can be reached at 641-745-0124.

cancelled

The local United Methodist Churches of Afton, Arispe, Lorimor and Jerusalem have cancelled services until further notice.

Cromwell church have announced that services have been cancelled until Dec. 6.

Mario’s Sports Bar and Grill carry out only

Mario’s Sports Bar and Grill, located at 129 N. Pine St. in Creston has announced their indoor dining has been cancelled and are only offering carry out until further notice.
