The Creston City Council will hold three public hearings at its regular meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday via Zoom. Residents are encouraged to attend virtually or submit comments to their council members or mayor.
One hearing is on request to vacate a portion of South Division Street in order for the Creston Area Food Pantry to expand their building. Representatives from the food pantry have previously shown the new part of the building will not block the view at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and South Division Street.
A hearing to rescind and replace the current fireworks ordinance will be held as well. The proposed ordinance would allow fireworks to be set off inside Creston city limits from 5 to 11 p.m. July 1 through 7.
The third hearing is for an ordinance that would create a permitting process for residents who would like to keep chickens within city limits. Up to 6 hens, no roosters, would be allowed in cages in the backyard only.
