Susan Rote, 60, of Osceola died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, at University Hospital in Iowa City. Celebration of Life memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St. in Afton. Pastor Dwayne Henrichs will officiate. Burial will be in Hopeville Cemetery in Hopeville. Open visitation, with family receiving friends will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Powers Funeral Home in Afton.

Susan Pearl Rote was born Sept. 26, 1960, in Osceola to Donald Dean Hoyt and Sylvia Elaine (Clement) Hoyt. She graduated from Murray High School in 1980.

On Feb. 14, 1985, Susan married Richard Alan Rote in Adel. They first lived in Redfield, then moved to Hopeville. Susan was a homemaker and housewife. They lived near Lorimor and Murray and most recently Osceola. Susan was a member of the Hopeville Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Rote of Osceola; mother in-law, Bonnie Rote of Redfield; two daughters, Tracy (Cameron) Bainter of Hopeville and Chelsey Rote (partner Drew Clark) of Murray; one son, Brian (April) Rote of Bronte, Texas; two brothers, Ed (Janet) Hoyt of Moline, Illinois, and Jerry Hoyt of Osceola; one sister, Sandy Holder of Grimes; her sister-in-law, Linda Cope (Garry Johnston) of Dexter and 11 grandchildren.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Danny Hoyt and her father-in-law, Richard “Dick” Rote.
