Let’s agree to disagree

When I read “Straight Shots,” by Larry Peterson in Friday’s paper, I felt very sad for him and for all of us, who are the people of America. People are on edge. People have become hateful and fearful of the future. People’s belief systems have changed about everything! We have forgotten that we can agree to disagree like we’ve done in the past, which I believe was only last year! This year that does not exist, but what about next year? It can all change in an instant, or in a few months like this one did.

Scrolling Facebook, I’ve never seen so much hate in my life and I was in the middle of the ‘60s, too. People who claim to be “of God” telling others they are f---ing idiots for what they believe — whaaat? (Proverbs 14:34) “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” America chose to be one nation under God — right? Maybe some of you don’t believe that — it should be your choice to believe, or not to believe — right? I do not condemn other people for their choices or what they believe in. Can’t we all just try to agree to disagree and get on with life and with friends and neighbors and be kind — that’s the real America!

Yes, we have to sit and wait and watch to see who wins this election, then we have to live with it. That’s the way it’s always been and that’s the way it will always be. I know everyone thinks it’s different! Yes, it’s 2020, but it was a terrible pandemic that changed us all and yeah, it’s still here, but it will end and we’ll go on with our lives. So, do people want to end their relationships with friends and go on without those people around them, or stay friends and go on in life? Your choice is here waiting for next year and the next year and the next year after that! Make the right choice because I myself am tired of reading about hatred, watching hatred, listening to hatred — I do not understand hate, nor do I want to.
