Albright begins locksmith and wholesale business

GREENFIELD — Ryan Albright feels he has a unique set of skills that will help him to help his community through a new wholesale and locksmith business he's starting called Ghost Quarter Unlocking Services.

Albright explained that his new business will be partnering with local businesses and individuals to provide them with services and products they don't currently have.

Albright graduated with honors from a GED program after attending Nodaway Valley. He considers that a big accomplishment for him and says it proves anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it.

Albright said he learned to pick locks the legal way — by buying locks not in use and practicing on them with a kit that anybody can own. The difference is when that kit is used to perform illegal acts.

Being successful at opening locks takes much practice and patience, Albright said. There are a number of places one can go to learn a skill, but the difference is whether someone has the true desire to learn it.

"A lock has what you call the cylinder and the pins and pin tumblers. By pushing the pins up into the correct position you can then open the lock without the key by putting tension on the lock," Albright said.

Albright said that Alvin's Pick 'em Up, based in Greenfield, offers automotive locksmith services, which he will not offer.

Albright's major concern in the wholesale portion of his business is not competing with his other job at Dollar General or any other merchant in town. He wants to help them, not compete with them.

Albright plans to purchase low-priced but not cheaply made merchandise to place at local businesses. He will offer those businesses a 25% commission on items sold.

"Whatever I put into that business, both parties are benefitting," Albright said. "You have to get consistent, proven sales. I feel the way I'm doing it is reasonable and safe. I want to not just be like everybody else because a conflict of interest is a real concern for me. I said, 'Alright, what items can I get that people can get only online and what items do places in town not already sell?'"

Albright said he is excited to see how well his business takes off. He may be reached at 641-343-7069.

"I figured why don't I start not only improving my own skills but start working with local businesses, improving that they're doing as well," Albright said.
