Ralph Marxen, 63, of Creston passed away at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Friday, Oct. 2, 2020. Rev. Tim Maxa of Lenox will officiate a memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery St. in Creston. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, at the funeral home. Internment will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Spaulding Township, north of Creston.

Ralph Dean Marxen, the son of Donald Leroy and Norma Ruth (Brown) Marxen, was born Jan. 4, 1957, in Greenfield. Ralph was educated in the Creston Public Schools and graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1976.

Following graduation, Ralph was employed at Southwest Distributing in Creston where he worked for nearly 20 years. He also worked for several years at Farm & Home as a Sales Attendant. Ralph then began a truck driving career that continued over 20 years. He started driving a semi over the road for G & H Trucking in Greenfield and ended his truck driving career with a dedicated route. He was working when he became ill and was planning to return to work after he began feeling better. Ralph was a life-long resident of Creston and was married and divorced two times.

During his free time, Ralph loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his friends. He also enjoyed camping whenever he could and until recently, was an avid hunter. Ralph was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Creston and Abate of Iowa.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Norma Marxen; his three siblings: Steve Marxen, Rob Marxen and Barb Johnson; and a nephew, Clint Marxen.

Left to mourn his passing are his sisters-in-law: Betty Marxen of Lenox and Connie Marxen of Creston; five nieces: Becky (Mike) Smith of Lenox, Brandy (Jack) Wagner of Cromwell, Brenda (Tim) Njus of Waverly, Leah (Kelli) Glasgo of Ft. Dodge and Brianne (Keegan) Lohoff of Creston; a nephew, Dustin Weihs of Canada; his estranged daughter, Gabrielle Marxen of Surprise, Arizona; an uncle, Ed (Bobbie) Brown of Clovis, California; his aunt, Helen Shepherd of Hemet, California; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; a great-great nephew and other relatives and many friends.

Ralph will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
