Pizza on the Prairie (Tonight)

Come to the prairie from 5 to 8:30 p.m. tonight for brick oven pizza packed full with straight-from-the-farm veggies and local meats. Listen to live music and walk the prairie path. Drinks, desserts and sides available for purchase. Seating is limited, so bring a lawn chair or blanket. Reservations are required and a small deposit holds your space. ‘Movie Night in the Park: The Princess Bride’ (Sept. 26)

Movie Night in the Park featuring “The Princess Bride” will be hosted by Crossroads Behavioral Health Services 7:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 26 at the bandshell at McKinley Park.

Cemetery Walk (Sept. 27)

The Gibson Memorial Library will be hosting its 4th annual Cemetery Walk 2 p.m. Sept. 27 at Calvary Cemetery, 1419 W. Adams St. Admission is $10 and tickets can be purchased at the library. Please bring a lawn chair. In case of rain, the event will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 107 W. Howard St.

Creston Farmers’ Market (Monday)

The final Creston Farmers Market of the season is 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the southeast corner of McKinley Park.

2020 CCHS Homecoming Week (Sept 27 - Oct. 2)

The 2020 theme of CCHS homecoming is “Once Upon a Homecoming.” A queen coronation will be 1:30 p.m. Oct. 2, on the CHS football field. A community pep rally will also be held and school will be dismissed three hours early. Masks are required to attend and the community parade has been canceled. Instead, visit Adams and Maple Streets for a “reverse parade” of decorations put together by the high school classes. Uptown businesses may also choose to decorate their storefronts according to this year’s theme, and decorated windows will be displayed during homecoming week along the usual parade route; visitors may walk or drive uptown to view these and vote for their favorite displays. The Panthers’ opponents at the homecoming game Oct. 2 will be the Harlan Cyclones.

CCHS Homecoming Kickoff Event (Sept. 27)

Homecoming Kickoff Event begins at 1 p.m. Sunday in the CCHS gym. The community is invited to join us as we kick off homecoming week with the traditional junior/senior competitions. Admission for both events is $5. Activity tickets will not be accepted; money raised helps cover homecoming expenses (including fireworks after Friday night’s football game) and other student government sponsored activities throughout the year. Masks are required to attend. Following the kickoff event, classes will decorate windows of businesses uptown to get into the homecoming spirit.Because of COVID-19 precautions, there will be no high school dance this year.
