Hal Wayne Stewart, 65, 102 S. Locus St., Lenox, was charged with first-offense operating while under the influence 2:33 a.m. today on Highway 34.
According to a Creston Police report, Stewart was stopped for speeding and not maintaining his lane while driving. Officers noted he had slurred speech and an odor of alcohol coming from his breath. Stewart admitted to drinking earlier. He failed field sobriety testing. A Datamaster test revealed he had a .191 blood alcohol level.

Stewart was released from the Union County Jail on $1,000 bond.

Ronald Piel, 807 W. Montgomery St., reported 10 a.m. Tuesday that sometime between 6 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday someone entered the garage at his residence and the vehicle parked inside the garage, taking documents pertaining to the vehicle, a pair of sunglasses and a car phone stand or mount.

Estimated loss was $400.
