Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 12 p.m. Wednesday in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, Gabrille Hope Kibbe, 18, of Creston, was attempting to turn right into an open parking spot when her 2004 Pontiac struck a parked 2011 Chevy in a parking lot.

Estimated damage was $500 to Kibbe’s vehicle and $1,700 to the Chevy.

Marvin Ray Baker, 59, 2077 Holly Ave., in Corning, was cited for failure to stop in assured and clear distance 9 a.m. Thursday on Highway 34.

According to a Creston Police report, Lawrence Charles Shimono, 75, of Creston, was slowing down to turn right onto Old Highway 34 when Baker’s 2015 Ford struck Shimono’s 2018 Ford from behind. Baker reported that he did not know that Shimono was slowing down and attempted to go around him, but due to another vehicle coming westbound he was unable to avoid the accident. Shimono’s vehicle then went into the south ditch where it rolled once and landed on its wheels. Shimono was transported to Greater Regional Health.

Estimated damage was $5,000 to Baker’s vehicle and $8,000 to Shimono’s vehicle.
