Fall cleanup day in Bridgewater to be held Saturday

Bridgewater will hold its fall citywide cleanup day 8:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 26.

A collection site for items to dispose of will be on South Main Street near the recycling bins.

Bridgewater residents are encouraged to use this time for the disposal of debris, trash, appliances, tires, batteries, recyclables, yard waste and more. They are discouraged from using it as a replacement for regular, routine and timely household garbage pickup.

Roll off dumpsters will be provided for solid waste. No mattresses, box springs, televisions or computer monitors will be allowed. Computer towers will be allowed. Also, no hazardous waste, insecticide, pesticide, chemicals of any kind or any home improvement debris.

Residents should plan on bringing their own items to the collection sites as curbside pickup will be limited.

Acceptable items include refrigerators, freezers, kitchen ranges, stoves, ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, compactors, washers, dryers, water heaters, air conditioners, sinks, printers, computer towers, lawn mowers, tillers, bicycles, tricycles, furnaces, lawn furniture or anything primarily metal or iron. Paint cans should be opened and allowed to dry to a hard, dry mass before they are allowed as solid waste.

Tires will be accepted at individual prices of $5 per passenger car tire, $7 per pickup tire, $15 per semi truck tire, $20 per front tractor tire and $40 per rear tractor tire. Vehicle batteries will be taken at no charge. Waste oil taken must be clean with no water or sediment.

Glass, plastics, mixed paper, cardboard and aluminum cans may be taken to the Adair County recycling bins. Tree limbs, sticks, tree trunks, branches, twigs, vines, clean yard waste, grass clippings, weeds and leaves may be taken to the city brush dump on 280th Street. Blocks, bricks, stones, rock, sand, clean dirt may be disposed of at the “fill pile.” Ask for that location.

Any and all fees must be paid by cash or good check at the time of collection.
