Skylar Allen Rufenacht, 34, 308 N. Jarvis St., and Samantha Diane Meek, 33, 807 W. Adams St., Mount Ayr, were each charged with violation of a protection order 3:33 p.m. Tuesday at Rufenacht’s residence.
According to a Creston Police report, officers responded to a call that Rufenacht and Meek were in violation of a protective order. Rufenacht, who was found in the garage behind the residence, told officers he was unaware of Meek’s location. Officers found Meek hiding under a coat in the garage.
Rufenacht was being held at the Union County Jail and Meek was transported to the Adams County Jail where they were awaiting their appearance before the magistrate.

Johnny Earl Gossett II, 33, 217 N. Maple St. Apt. 2, was charged with third- or subsequent-offense domestic abuse assault at 11:08 p.m. Tuesday on the 400 block of New York Avenue.
According to a Creston Police report, two witnesses reported seeing a female assaulted by a male. The victim reported to police that Gossett and her were arguing while walking down the sidewalk, that she had walked away and that Gossett had come up behind her and struck her in the head before fleeing between houses. A no contact order was requested.
Gossett was being held in the Union County Jail awaiting bond hearing.
